This private residence involved a major remodel
to a Tudor home in central Omaha. The major priority of the homeowners
was to keep the smaller scale and detailing of the original house and
yet achieve the larger square footage required to meet today's living
for a family of five, including 2-car attached Garage and a single
detached Garage. All areas of the house were touched in the remodel and
addition. Part of the Basement floor was removed and dropped to achieve
greater ceiling heights than the original structure allowed. The major
remodeled areas were Master Suite, Kitchen, Family Room, Upstairs
Bedrooms and Lower Level Family Room. The new trim, stucco and clinker
brick details were designed to be true to the original Tudor style.
The interior of the house had designs which included alder cabinetry,
hand hewn beams and oak floors to capture the spirit of the original
home. The walnut mantel at the Family Room fireplace was hand shaped
from a walnut tree removed nearby.
